The Babcock Graduate School of Management remains true to Wake Forest University’s tradition – to provide an education based on the values expressed in the university’s motto – Pro Humanitate, education for the benefit of humanity. The mission of the school is to advance the understanding and practice of management and leadership in a dynamic global economy characterized by increasing technological and social change.

The school strives to be a leader by offering an outstanding educational experience in the context of recognized societal values. We are dedicated to enhancing the vitality of our community, state, nation and global community through outreach programs. Social and environmental issues are interwoven throughout core curriculum courses, as well as electives, with 94 percent of core courses and approximately 75 percent of all courses addressing social and/or environmental issues. Students become active participants in advancing social and/or environmental issues through curriculum-related activities such as international study

trips, taking part in the Management Consulting Practicum, and writing original teaching cases with teaching notes, based on their summer internship experiences.

Outside the classroom students have numerous opportunities to gain exposure and experience with social and/or environmental issues through guest lectures, conferences, workshops, case competitions, student clubs, summer internships, participation in institute activities and community volunteer projects. Roughly 95 percent of all students take part in community volunteer projects while attending Babcock. Through the Management Consulting Practicum (actual consulting engagements with companies) and summer internships, students work with businesses to solve real-world problems in both the nonprofit and for-profit sectors. Students also intersect frequently with the business community through Babcock’s Mentor Program, which pairs students with mentors in both the nonprofit and for-profit sectors. Because businesses today address many social and environmental issues, these projects provide excellent hands-on learning experiences.
