015_ucla2The Robert O. Anderson Graduate School of Management at the University of New Mexico is committed to educating students for ethical and responsible management. This commitment is long-standing.

  • Since the 1970s, the curriculum for the MBA and all other programs has included a core course focusing on social responsibility and ethical behavior.
  • The faculty who teach these core courses are primarily tenured and tenure-track professors with training in the business-and-society field.
  • MBA students are offered elective seminar courses with a significant emphasis on environmental management and/or social impact management, including Ecology and Management, Managerial Ethics, Creative Leadership, Public Affairs and Public Relations, Women in Management, the Washington Campus Program, and American Indian Business and Management.
  • 90% of the other courses in the core curriculum incorporate topics, projects, and cases that highlight social and environmental issues.
  • Faculty in a number of disciplines in the school conduct research that includes social impacts and environmental management. Thus, they are able to incorporate treatment of these topics as they relate to accounting, finance, human resource management, information systems, international management, marketing, operations, policy and planning, and technology management.
  • Two professorships in business ethics were endowed in 2003 by Jack and Donna Rust. One professorship is for an active scholar, and the other is for an executive in residence with notable accomplishments in ethical management. Activities sponsored through the professorships include the annual MBA Ethics in Business Case Competition.
  • The Anderson School has provided support to the its faculty member who served as editor of the academic journal, Business & Society, from 2001-2004.
  • Student clubs are active in community service projects, such as providing free tax assistance to disabled adults and collecting food and clothing for the needy.
